Sadiq Khan fury erupts – Mayor’s failure to attend London Assembly sparks brutal backlash
Susan Hall told Express.co.uk that the London Mayor refused her invitation to an oversight meeting despite her offering him any date and time of his choosing. Ms Hall stated that minutes before the deadline Mr Khan informed the Conservatives that he was too busy to attend. Mr Khan has not made an appearance at the London Assembly in more than six weeks but has outlined his intention to appear at Mayor’s Question Time in two weeks’ time.
Ms Hall said regarding the coronavirus crisis: “We realised we had to start looking at what was going on, this is the capital city of England.
“We have got to start looking at what we do beyond this.”
She continued: “So we wanted an oversight meeting and obviously invited him to it.
“We were just put off and put off.
“We even said even if he can only do 30 minutes, you tell us what time he can come, and we will make the whole meeting around that.
“It was you tell us what time you can make it and we will make that the time of the oversight meeting.
“Right at the last minute, at the deadline for letting us know he has said he is too busy to come.
“On Tuesday I went on talkRADIO and was faced with a statement from him saying that he hasn’t been invited.
“It is a lie, a blatant lie.”
A spokesperson for Sadiq Khan condemned the comments and explained the Mayor would appear at Mayor’s Question Time in two weeks.
They said: “This national emergency is the wrong time for this kind of petty party politics from the Conservative Party.

Earlier this week Susan Hall told talkRADIO’s Mike Graham that she was absolutely furious at the London Mayor’s absence during the COVID-19 crisis.
Ms Hall said: “I am absolutely furious.
“We have actually said to him that we want an oversight meeting to ask him questions.
“We said whatever time suited him, whatever day suited him, we would do.
“He just didn’t want to.”
