Amelia Spencer, the daughter of Earl Spencer and first cousin of Princes William and Harry, met her fiancee while they were both studying at the University of Cape Town. Mr Mallett posted on Instagram that he had proposed to his girlfriend of almost 10 years on Wednesday last week.

He posted a series of sweet photos of them both from Clouds Wine & Guest Estate in Stellenbosch.

He captioned the images: “So this was the best day of my life. 22nd of July 2020, I asked the love of my life to spend the rest of her life with me and she said YES.

“Couldn’t be happier and I love you with all my heart @ameliaspencer15.”

The photos show Lady Amelia showing off a dazzling oval diamond ring while the couple kiss and embrace.

Lady Amelia, whose first name is actually Katya and her twin sister Eliza grew up in the Constantia area of Cape Town with siblings Kitty and Louis.

Her father Charles Spencer was delighted by the news of his daughter’s engagement.

Posting a picture of the happy couple on Twitter, Charles sent his well wishes to his daughter and soon to be son in law.

The tweet read: “So happy for my daughter, Amelia, engaged to her boyfriend of 11 years, Greg – it’s wonderful to hear them both so excited about their future.

Lady Amelia, whose first name is actually Katya, her twin sister Eliza grew up in the Constantia area of Cape Town with siblings Kitty and Louis.

The three sisters attended the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey in 2011.

However, while Lady Kitty, Louis and Lady Eliza were present at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s nuptials in May 2018, Amelia was missing.

Amelia is the latest Spencer sister to get engaged.

It was reported earlier this year that Lady Kitty is engaged to 60-year-old multi-millionaire Michael Lewis.

Greg is well-known by the Spencer clan and is already considered to be part of the family.

In May Amelia’s father Charles Spencer celebrated his his 56th birthday in lockdown at the family seat of Althorp.

He also celebrated Diana’s birthday on July 1 after receiving a “touching” gift from one of Diana’s fans to mark the special day.

The gift was a bouquet of flowers and a sweet note to mark the poignant day.

Posting a photo of the handwritten card laying on top of brown paper, which had white flowers peeking through, Charles wrote: “Received at @AlthorpHouse today – amazing, and touching.”

The card read: “Happy Birthday Diana, Princess of Wales. I will always remember you. From the lady who lives near Heathrow. From Vanessa.”
