Royal Wedding 2019: Who is Grace Kelly’s grandson who will tie the knot this year?
Louis Ducruet is the grandson of American film star Grace Kelly and late Prince of Monaco, Rainier III. While he does not have a royal title Louis is 15th in line to Monaco’s throne. The young royal will tie the knot with college sweetheart Marie Chevallier in a lavish ceremony on July 27.
Who is Louis Ducruet?
Louis, 26, was born in Princess Grace Hospital, Monaco on November 26 1992.
He is the son of Princess Stéphanie of Monaco and Daniel Ducruet.
Louis lived in Monaco for the first few years of his life but moved around following his parents’ divorce in 1995.
He spent years some time in Auron, France before later moving to Zurich with his mother and two siblings.
He is the oldest of three siblings and has two sisters – Pauline, 25, and Camille, 21.
They moved back to Monaco in 2002 which is where Louis completed his high school education.
Louis works as a talent scout for football team AS Monaco FC and is also the co-manager of Monaco-based company MONADECO.
Louis has been engaged to his fiancee Marie Hoa Chevalier since February 2018.
Where did Louis and Marie meet?
Husband-and-wife-to-be Louis and Marie, 25, met when they were both students at the Skema Business School in Sophia Antipolis, France.
They both went on to study for a stint at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina where Marie graduated with a Masters in Marketing and Louis gained a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management.
Both Louis and Marie are keen football fans.
Their wedding comes just weeks after Louis’s cousin fellow Monaco royal, Charlotte Casiraghi, tied the knot in the south of France.
What will their wedding be like?
The couple plan to have the ceremony in Monaco Cathedral, chosen because of its proximity to where Louis grandfather Rainier III was laid to rest.
Guests will include a string of senior Monaco royal family members.
Current monarch (and Ducruet’s uncle) Prince Albert and his wife Princess Charlene will join Princess Stéphanie and Princess Caroline are expected to be among the attendees.
