Royal shock: How Prince Harry was accused of playful Kate Middleton pinch
The Duke of Sussex made a surprising statement during an interview, admitting he and his brother, Prince William, had grown apart. In a documentary filmed throughout his 10-day tour of Africa with Meghan last month – that ITV aired on Sunday – the Prince claimed he and Prince William are now on “different paths” and have “good days” and “bad days”. Many royals fans were saddened by the Prince’s statement, as Harry used to be incredibly close to both his brother and sister-in-law.
The trio would often appear together at events and the Royal Foundation, which Harry and Meghan left, had huge successes with projects like the Invictus Games for injured veterans and the Heads Together campaign.
The Duke of Sussex was so close to Kate, that he was even pictured indulging in some “juvenile” behaviour with her at Trooping the Colour in 2011.
Kate was bending over to chat to youngsters on the Buckingham Palace balcony after the celebrations when Harry was accused of pinching her bottom.
Clearly astonished, Kate did her best to keep a straight face – before bursting out laughing.
As the Prince giggled, the rest of the royals joined in and Harry covered his blushes with his hand.
An onlooker told the Daily Star at the time: “Kate flinched and her face froze, as if she couldn’t quite believe what was going on behind her back.
“And then she and everyone burst out laughing.”
Harry’s friendship and good-humoured relationship with Kate was widely reported on at the time and he has even referred to her a sister-like figure in the past.
Kate, in turn, was said to maintain an “open-door policy” to her friendship with the prince while studying at the University of St Andrews.

Harry reportedly frequently stayed at the four-bedroom cottage Kate and William rented just outside the Scottish town, and the trio would often visit Balmoral together.
When William and Kate graduated and moved to a roomy rented farmhouse in Anglesey, Harry was said to be a frequent visitor when he had time away from his Army duties.
It was during this time that, according to the Daily Mail, a “strong, sisterly bond was cemented with the at-times lonely Harry”.
In 2010, when William and Kate announced their engagement, Harry’s response was heartfelt.

He said: “I am delighted my brother has popped the question! It means I get a sister, which I have always wanted.”
After their wedding, he was just as effusive, claiming: “To have a big sister is very, very nice.
“I’ve got to know Catherine pretty well, but now that she’s becoming part of the family, I’m really looking forward to getting her under my wing – or she’ll be taking me under her wing probably.”
