Royal row: Mike Tindall warned to keep quiet about royal family personal life

The former England rugby captain is among the most outspoken members of the royal family and is known for speaking openly about his personal life and giving casual interviews to the press. But it seems the monarchy is concerned the dad-of-two will unintentionally spill the beans on his in-laws and have intervened before something gets out. A source told the Mirror: “Mike is adored by all members of the Royal Family for his down-to-earth nature and good humour.

“He doesn’t take himself too seriously and there’s not a snobby bone in his body.

“But recently it’s been felt he may inadvertently reveal something that should remain private.

“Although he is not royal and his mother-in-law Princess Anne refused her children titles so they would lead ‘normal’ lives, there’s no getting away from Zara’s bloodline.

“Like it or not, there’s a line they must toe.”

In May, Mike, 40, gave an interview to Good Morning Britain in which he revealed exactly how he had found out about the arrival of Prince Harry and Meghan’s baby, Archie.

The Yorkshire native said he was part of a young royals’ WhatsApp group in which the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had posted the birth announcement.

And earlier this month, Mike spoke to Hello magazine while he took part in The Celebrity Cup, a charity golf tournament at the Celtic Manor resort near Newport in Wales.

He said his daughters Mia, five, and one-year-old Lena had yet to meet the newest member of the royal family, little Archie.

In the past, Mike has described his in-laws as “just a normal family” and said he found them to be “good, fun people – all of them”.

Mike was introduced to Zara by the Duke of Sussex in Australia during the 2003 Rugby Wold Cup.

The couple married in July 2011 in Edinburgh at a ceremony attended by the Queen and senior royals.

The couple chose matchmaker Prince Harry as the godfather of their youngest daughter Lena.
