Royal romance: The strange but touching date Prince Charles and Camilla shared

Royal life often involves extensive privilege and prestige, but at times it can be a struggle to have special and personal moments. Royal couples often live in the public eye and Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall are no exception. But which unusual milestone did the couple share on Wednesday?

Prince Charles and Camilla were married in 2005 after meeting 34 years before.

Both of them had been married before.

Prince Charles was married to Princess Diana, with whom he had his two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.

Camilla was married to Andrew Parker Bowles, with whom she had two children, food critic Tom Parker Bowles and art curator Laura Lopes.

On Wednesday, March 4, the couple spent an unusual day out in London.

Charles, 71, and Camilla, 72, were passengers on a bus in London using their senior bus passes.

The couple caught the famous London red bus at Clarence House and travelled to the British Transport Museum in Covent Garden.

The journey, lasting just 15-minutes, took place on one of London’s new environmentally-friendly electric double-deckers.

When the couple arrived at the London Transport Museum they were greeted by the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan.

After which, the couple undertook a tour of the museum during which they met with TFL apprentices and staff who have pioneered environmental and mental health schemes in the workplace and crisis response staff.

The museum welcomes more than 400,000 visitors through its doors each year and the visit on Wednesday marked 20 years since TFL was launched.

The Prince of Wales received his bus pass on his 65th birthday after completing the relevant documents.

The bus pass ensures the Prince receives his statutory entitlement of more than £100 per week to use public transport free of charge.

Prince Charles and Camilla often attend royal engagements together.

In 2019, the pair were among the hardest working couple in the Royal Family.

Prince Charles undertook 373 engagements in the UK and 148 engagements overseas in 2019, making him the most hardworking royal.

Camilla undertook 145 engagements in the UK and 79 engagements overseas in 2019.

The Duchess of Cornwall is due to stand by Prince Charles’ side when he becomes king.

Clarence House insisted on Sunday there has been no change on the decision taken at the time of her marriage to Charles in 2005.

A spokesman said: “The intention is for the Duchess to be known as Princess Consort when the Prince accedes to the throne.

“This was announced at the time of the marriage and there has been absolutely no change at all.”

This decision was originally made in order to calm resistance against Camilla in the wake of Princess Diana’s tragic death in 1997.

The Duchess has never used the title of Princess of Wales but has instead styled herself as the Duchess of Cornwall after her husband’s Duchy estate.

But over the years, Camilla has grown in popularity.

In a poll carried out by YouGov last year, Camilla was ranked as the 11th most-popular member of the Royal Family.

Camilla was also ranked as the eighth most famous of the royals.
