Royal REVEAL: How Queen gave Meghan EXTRA special honour – ‘Kate waited much longer’

Meghan Markle received an “extra special honour” during her first solo appearance with the Queen, revealed a royal correspondent. Michelle Tauber, senior editor of People, also claimed The Duchess of Cambridge “waited much longer” for her first solo appearance with the Queen than Meghan. Speaking on ‘Meghan Markle: The First Year’, Ms Tauber said: “Meghan’s first solo appearance with the Queen was a really historic moment. First of all, it happened very early in the marriage to Prince Harry. Kate waited much longer for her first solo appearance with the Queen.

“Second of all, Meghan got an extra special honour, which is the Queen invited her to join her on her private train to travel to Chester.”

Referring to Meghan’s first year as a royal, Ms Tauber also recollected: “Even though she was still very early in her pregnancy, Meghan’s baby bump took centre stage throughout the royal tour.

“All eyes were on royal-baby-to-be.”

Referring to the Duchess of Sussex’s style choices over the past year, Ms Tauber added: “Meghan’s style is chic, it’s effortless, but it also is curated in a way to match her look to the event she is attending.”

Meghan Markle gave birth to son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor on May 6, and has only been seen in public once since she became a mother.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex brought baby Archie to his first official photocall at St George’s Hall at Windsor Castle on May 8 where the world got to see the couple’s son for the first time.

The Duchess is expected to join the Royal Family for Trooping the Colour on Saturday, June 8.

Trooping the Colour marks the official birthday of Queen Elizabeth II and the event has celebrated the British Sovereign for more than 260 years.

The event will see 1,400 parading soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians come together in a great display of military precision, horsemanship and fanfare.

The Duchess of Sussex is currently on maternity leave but could return early in order to celebrate the official birthday of baby Archie’s great-grandmother.

Many originally thought the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would not hire a nanny and instead rely on Meghan Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland to help out.

But while the new grandma was there in the early weeks, it appears she returned back to her home in Los Angeles, California after spending two weeks with her daughter, son-in-law, and new grandson at Frogmore Cottage.

Meghan’s best friend Jessica Mulroney appears to be on her way to London with her five-year-old daughter to meet the baby Archie, so the christening could be sooner than expected.

Jessica is leading the odds as a godmother to Archie, with Ladbrokes bookmaker giving her a huge 1/7 shot. Jessica is thought to be the first person to have known about Meghan’s pregnancy, so she’s a sure bet for the role of godmother.

Leading the race for godfather is Harry’s best friend, Charlie Van Straubenzee, also holding a 1/7 shot.

Charlie has been friends with Prince Harry and Prince William since they were children, and made a speech at Harry and Meghan’s wedding.

Also in the running with 5/2 odds is Misha Nonoo, the fashion designer who is rumoured to have introduced Meghan and Harry.

Kate and William have 7/2 odds of being picked – but also in the running are George and Amal Clooney, with 5/1 odds.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Plenty think Harry and Meghan will turn to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge when it comes to picking Godparents.”
