Kate, Prince William and their three children moved to Anmer Hall in late March, after schools were closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Since their long stay in the countryside started, the Duchess of Cambridge is believed to have made a significant change in the her children’s wardrobes.

As pictures released to mark Prince George’s birthday show, the outfits of the third-in-line to the throne in Norfolk are way more causal than the ones he has been seen wearing in London.

A source said Kate was relishing in relaxed countryside life by dressing George, Charlotte and Louis in less old-fashioned outfits.

Instead, she has introduced simple, easy outfits to better allow them to enjoy their natural surroundings.

A royal insider told The Sun: “Kate is far happier kitting her and her three children out in ‘country appropriate’ clothes especially since they have been spending so much time away from Kensington Palace and at Amner Hall.

“She likes relaxed, plain but practical polo shirts and T shirts from places like Mango or H&M, always minus the hideous writing and slogans so favoured by downmarket suppliers.”

Polo shirt, swimsuits and jeans appear to have become a staple in the little Cambridges’ wardrobes.

Another source said: “Informality is the the nub of their Anmer living, and the Cambridge clothing replicates that ideal.

“Swimsuits and clothes from Boden, Gap and John Lewis are the mainstay of their well stocked Anmer wardrobe.”

On Tuesday evening, Kensington Palace released two pictures of Prince George to mark his seventh birthday.

In one snap, taken by his mother Kate, the birthday boy was looking straight into the camera.

The smiling prince was wearing a £7.99 polo shirt by Mango and a pair of blue trousers – the same outfit he donned in pictures taken by Kate to mark Father’s Day and Prince William’s birthday.

In the second picture, Prince George showed off a grin and a worn camouflage t-shirt.

Prince George was spotted wearing unbuttoned polo shirts on several occasions while in Norfolk.

In March, when the little Cambridges gathered in the garden at Anmer Hall to join the Clap for Our Carers initiative for the first time, Prince George wore a blue polo and matching trousers.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have provided insights into their life on lockdown by opening up on camera on the struggles they encountered and their day-to-day difficulties.

In an interview via video link with the BBC, Prince William and Kate discussed homeschooling.

Kate revealed she never told her children Charlotte and George they could take a break over Easter, admitting she felt “mean” about this white lie.

The couple also opened up on how they stayed in touch with their loved ones, scattered across the country and self-isolating in their own homes.

Speaking about video chats, Kate revealed Prince Charles and her parents were particularly happy to be able to see the children.

Prince William made a joke that their older relatives were not great at working the new technology.

He told the BBC: “We have been talking to all the family online.

“It’s been a really good way of keeping in touch and seeing each other.

“As you can imagine, the younger generation are a little bit more tech-savvy. But only just.

“I think we’re getting there now, the family are getting a little bit more used to being able to contact each other and pressing the right buttons and dropping the computer halfway through.”
