The Queen paid tribute to NHS workers caring for patients and urged Britons to use their time in isolation wisely when she delivered her historic address to the nation. The monarch, 93, applauded key workers for “selflessly” helping the sick and vulnerable. And seeking to lift the spirits of millions of people confined to their homes, the Queen said self-quarantine “presents an opportunity to slow down, pause and reflect in prayer or meditation”.
She also appealed to Britons to draw on their inner strength to “remain united and resolute” in the fight against the spread of the virus.
The Head of the Royal Family also issued a special Easter message as Christians across the country celebrated without being able to go to church.
She urged the public to “take heart” from the story of Easter – “the discovery of the risen Christ on the first Easter day” – and reassured them that “coronavirus will not overcome us”.
The Prince of Wales, 71, has also kept in touch with the outside world during isolation.

He thanked medical staff, supermarket workers and all those working to keep key services moving during the lockdown.
Injecting a note of optimism, the Prince said: “None of us can say when this will end, but end it will.”
He unveiled the field hospital which has a capacity of 4,000 after he was given the all-clear from COVID-19.
Meanwhile the Duchess of Cornwall, 72, has been praised for her efforts to support members of the public from isolation.
Camilla released a poignant message of support for victims of domestic abuse who may be at increased risk due to spending more time at home during the lockdown.
She urged them to not be afraid to break their silence and tweeted links to charities which specialise in helping domestic abuse victims.
