Royal POLL: Should Princess Beatrice’s Royal wedding be televised like Eugenie’s? VOTE

Princess Beatrice is to marry her beau Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, also known as Edo by family and friends, this year, as announced in September 2019. But she will unlikely have the same fairytale and expensive wedding thrown for her younger sister Eugenie in October 2018.

As confirmed by Buckingham Palace, Beatrice’s wedding won’t be publicly funded, after the younger York’s cost approximately £2million.

And, unlike her sister and Jack Brooksbank’s, this wedding won’t be live broadcasted by either ITV or the BBC, as confirmed yesterday by the broadcasters themselves.

The BBC, who two years ago said there was not enough public interest to justify broadcasting Eugenie’s nuptials, said it will provide “news coverage” of Beatrice’s wedding across its channels.

ITV added they “definitely won’t” be covering the event in their daytime schedule.

But while these broadcasters have given this damning verdict about the nuptials, Express.co.uk now asks its readers whether they think Beatrice and Edo’s wedding should be televised.

Eugenie and Jack’s nuptials were not just shown live on ITV but also streamed on the YouTube channels of the Duke of York and Royal Family.

Princess Beatrice and Edo have shared only a few details about their wedding, with the location and exact date of the nuptials are still to be announced.

However, one royal expert has argued Beatrice and Edo have at hand a chapel very close to the Royal Lodge which would be perfect for their wedding, if they don’t want to attract too much attention from the public.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, royal commentator Marlene Koenig mentioned the All Saints Chapel, often attended by the Queen when in Windsor.

She said: “If they wanted or were talked into a small wedding, All Saints Chapel would be perfect because it is located in Royal Lodge area.

“Just speculation, however.

“They got engaged at the end of September and it is now nearly December and so far no releases, even with a date.”

News Princess Beatrice’s wedding won’t be broadcasted by the BBC or ITV came after Prince Andrew’s now-infamous Newsnight interview.

The Duke of York discussed with BBC presenter Emily Maitlis his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

However, the royal failed to express sympathy for the victims of the paedophile and said he didn’t regret “as a whole” his association with Epstein.

Following a severe backlash, Prince Andrew announced he was stepping down from royal duties for the time being.

This scandal helped to shift the attention of the public and the media from Beatrice’s wedding to Andrew.

However, in the run-up to the nuptials, all eyes and interest should be on the eldest daughter of the Duke of York and Sarah Ferguson, royal expert Ms Koenig said.

She continued: “In fairness to Beatrice, this is her wedding day, essentially, the happiest day of her life, and the focus should be on her and not her father.

“That said, she and her sister are both collateral damage in the behaviour of both their parents but, especially, right now, her father.

“The two princesses are devoted to their parents, so these actions, the reality of the Epstein case, can only be truly saddening for Beatrice.”
