Royal love: How Prince Harry helped Meghan Markle after actress suffered major break-up

In May, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did not only become parents for the first time but also celebrated their first wedding anniversary. The couple tied the knot at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on May 19, 2018, less than three years after their first meeting. During their engagement interview in 2017, Prince Harry said he fell in love “so incredibly quickly” with Meghan and it seemed proof that the “stars were aligned”.

According to a newly-resurfaced report by the Daily Star though, the beginning of their romance might have not been so fairytale-like.

Royal correspondent Louise Berwick claimed in 2016 Harry might have been a “royal rebound romance”.

She wrote: “American Meghan parted with restauranteur Cory Vitiello after a two-year romance.

“And after advice from pals to get back in the dating game, the Suits actress is said to have lured the prince into her arms.”

During an interview that year, Meghan famously said: “If you are asking my girlfriends the best way to get over one guy is to get on another.

“But my mum says when your heart breaks, it just opens up for more love.”

It is not clear why Meghan and Mr Vitiello, who is a famous TV chef in Canada, broke up.

However, the Duchess seems to have really enjoyed the two of them spent together.

The year they met, Meghan wrote on her blog, The Tig, that 2014 had been the “happiest” she had ever been, “personally, professionally, wholly”.

According to friends close to the couple, a proposal was definitely imminent in 2016, but Mr Vitiello reportedly decided to call off their relationship.

Some reports claim the chef split up from the actress after she took credit for one of his recipes

Nevertheless, timing could have not been more perfect, as the Duchess stumbled upon Prince Harry shortly after getting her heart broken.
