Royal job advertised with choice to live in same grounds as Meghan Markle and Prince Harry

The Royal Family is advertising for a new Housekeeping Assistant, with the role based at Windsor Castle. The permanent job is looking for a candidate who “takes pride in your work and aim for the highest standards”. The 40-hour-a-week role will report to the Master of the Household’s Office, and has been advertised on the Royal Family’s official website.

The job also “offers the option to live-in” on the grounds of Windsor Castle – where Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, and Prince Harry live.

Prince Harry, Meghan and baby Archie all live at Frogmore Cottage, in Windsor, after moving into the property shortly before the birth of the Duke and Duchess of Sussexes’ son.

The cottage is situated on the Frogmore Estate, itself part of Home Park, a royal park on the eastern side of Windsor Castle.

The role, which does not reveal its “competitive plus benefits” salary, explains the candidate will need to “work as a team” to “achieve exceptional results”.

Discussing the role, the job advertisement reads: “It’s being encouraged to gain new skills. And it’s delivering extraordinary service in incredible surroundings.

“This is what makes a career with the Royal Household so different.

“This is a career pathway in hospitality that will develop your housekeeping skills and expertise.

“Joining our professional team, you’ll upkeep, clean and care for a wide range of interiors and items, ensuring they’re presented to their very best.”

Candidates are encouraged to learn from colleagues to “gain the specialist professional skills needed”.

Successful candidates will also “welcome and take care of guests at functions and events too”.

The role will be filled by someone who is “well organised and with good time management skills” as well as being able to “meet deadlines and work efficiently to get jobs done”.

The job advert reads: “Previous housekeeping or hospitality experience would be an advantage but is not essential.

“We’re more interested in your proactive approach and ability to tackle new challenges.”

It adds: “Above all, you’ll be eager to learn new skills and develop a hospitality career.

“This is your opportunity to use your enthusiasm and interest in hospitality to deliver the exceptional.”

The role, which is based at Windsor Castle, also explains it will involve “travelling to other Royal residences”.

Candidates will also be “rewarded with a comprehensive benefits package, including 33 days holiday”.

The will also work 40 hours over a seven-day shift pattern, and the vacancy closes at the end of January.

It comes as senior members of the Royal Family joined the Queen at the traditional Christmas Day church service on her Sandringham estate.

Prince George, 6, and Princess Charlotte, 4, attended the service or the first time, walking hand-in-hand with their parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The Prince of Wales walked alongside them while one-year-old Prince Louis stayed at the house.

The Queen wore a red coat and hat and arrived at the church in a maroon Bentley with the Duchess of Cornwall.

The Duke of Edinburgh, 98, who was discharged from hospital on Christmas Eve, was at Sandringham but did not attend church.

The Duke of York walked side by side with Charles to a private service at 9am but did not attend the 11am service.
