Kensington Palace hit back at reports that the duchess is feeling “exhausted” and “trapped” after her workload seemed to increase following the step down of the Sussexes. Royal author Katie Nicholl has revealed that Kate is feeling “refreshed” and ready to begin work on her “autumn program for the Cambridges” as lockdown could soon begin to ease.

Writing in Vanity Fair magazine she said: “As Britain prepares to return to work after the lock down, Kate is planning to resume her (children under five) campaign.

In a story released in Tatler this week entitled “Catherine the Great” it was alleged that Kate has been complaining to friends that she is feeling overworked.

An anonymous source told the magazine: “Kate is furious about the larger workload.

“Of course she’s smiling and dressing appropriately but she doesn’t want this.

“She’s working as hard as a top CEO, who has to be wheeled out all the time, without the benefits of boundaries and plenty of holidays.”

This prompted Kensington Palace to step in and issue a rare statement that claimed Tatler had printed a “swathe of inaccuracies and false misrepresentations”.

Not only did Tatler claim that Kate was feeling the pressure of a working royal, but they also brought up a reported incident from 2018, between Meghan and the Duchess of Cambridge.

The two allegedly disagreed about whether Princess Charlotte should wear tights to the Sussex wedding.

Meghan is said to have requested no tights, whereas Kate thought it would be more formal to have the bridesmaids wear them.

However, speaking to Vanity Fair other sources said Kate was “rattled” about inaccuracies in the article.

They claim she is “more than happy” to step up to the plate and considered 2020 to be a crucial year.

A source told Vanity Fair. “It’s the suggestion that she resents her duty and hard work which has upset her.

“She takes her role very seriously and has been working harder than ever.

“The idea she feels trapped and exhausted simply isn’t the case.”

It’s been a busy time for the Cambridges as they have been seen almost daily on social media engaging with various charities and members of the public.

They have conducted video calls with schools, nursing staff, and organisations to offer support to those who need it most during the coronavirus epidemic.

A family friend explained: “It has meant lots of time together as a family, which they don’t often get, and they have enjoyed doing their bit to help out at this time,” says the friend.

A source who works with the couple revealed the pleasure that Kate takes in her duties.

“She has really been enjoying the early years work and has found her stride and purpose.

“She sees this work as a life-long commitment and she has worked really hard on this campaign.”

“She has thought long and hard about what she wants to do and how she can make a difference.”
