On Tuesday, the Duke of Sussex met the British team set to head off to the next edition of the games in the Hague next year. Whilst meeting the team and taking a number of group photos, one sportsman played a trick on Harry. The sportsman was caught out putting his fingers up behind Harry’s head while a picture was being taken.

He was snapped from behind, mid-prank, and the image was uploaded to the Sussex’s Instagram account.

The Duke found the funny side of it, the image’s caption read: “Some more fun moments from the announcement of the UK Invictus team 2020.

“Because they work hard and play hard too!”

Harry got to know another member of the team a little too well after one enthusiastic athlete pulled the Duke a little too close to herself.

One of the competitors, Lynsey Kelly, had put her arms around the Duke of Sussex’ waist for a team picture.

As she squeezed between other teammates and the Prince, one of her hands accidentally slipped down and was stuck on Harry’s bottom.

In an ITV video, Ms Kelly said amid laughter: “My hands just stuck on Prince Harry’s bottom”.

The Duke, trying to keep a straight face but looking quite bemused, turned his face towards her, saying: “It’s almost in my pocket!”

This came after Prince Harry himself cracked a joke for arriving slightly late at the launch because of the London traffic.

The Duke of Sussex almost threw himself into the crowd of contestants, all lined up for a group picture and waiting for him.

Pointing at the watch on his wrist, Prince Harry apologised for being late with a joke to the veterans and sportspeople attending the launch.

The Invictus Games is an international multi-sport event in which wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel and their associated veterans take part.

The event involves in nine different sports including wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball, and indoor rowing.

Prince Harry created the Invictus Games to celebrate the power of sport rehabilitation, both mentally and physically.

It also aims to generate a wider appreciation for those who serve their country.

The Sussex account captioned one of their images of the announcement with more explanation about the Invictus Games.

It said: “Participating in the games plays a significant part in the recovery journey of wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women.

“It doesn’t just heal the individual, it heals the whole family.

“Over the last few years, the stories of determination and perseverance that come out of each Invictus Game are nothing short of inspiring.”

The Sussex’s account shared their congratulations with the team, posting: “Congratulations to everyone selected to represent their country at next year’s Invictus Games – we’ll see you in The Hague in 2020!”

The first Invictus games took place in 2014 at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London.
