Royal feud: Meghan and Harry’s final engagement marred by family tension

Yesterday, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry attended a Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey, and were reportedly “upset” that they were not allowed to join senior members, including the Queen, as part of the VIP arrival party. The Sussexes, alongside the Earl and Countess of Wessex, had to make their own way to their seats before other senior royals arrived, according to The Daily Mail.

The newspaper has also alleged that William and Kate tried their best to calm the situation, as they offered to keep Harry and Meghan company before the Queen, Charles and Camilla arrived.

However, 2000 orders of service had already been circulated which placed the Cambridges firmly within the main royal party.

In a statement, Buckingham Palace said “there was no set format” for the service as “it depended on how many members of the royal family were in attendance.”

The Duchess was seen greeting her brother-in-law, Prince William, as she said “hi” and “hello”.

Kate, according to the Mail, appeared to “blank” Harry and Meghan, while the brothers only exchanged the briefest of greetings.

Harry seemed “pensive” and uncomfortable at yesterday’s service which is said to be one of the Queen’s favourite engagements.

Both he and Meghan were seen talking animatedly with Prince Edward, who was seated next to them.

Meghan looked radiant in a regal emerald green dress designed by British designer Emilia Wickstead which she paired with a hat by William Chambers, heels by Aquazurra and a bag by Gabriela Hearst.

Camilla, who has recently been increasingly busy, opted to wear navy as she was spotted smiling warmly at Harry and Meghan who were in the second row.

Following royal protocol, Meghan curtsied for both the Queen and Prince Charles in the Abbey, before being seated.

Upon leaving the ceremony, Meghan and Harry held hands firmly as they left the proceedings to begin their new “independent” life.

They are now to head to North America before they begin to financially severing ties from the royal family, from March 31 onwards.

A Palace aide broke silence on the procession structure and said in a statement: “The Wessexes, Sussexes and Cambridges are all processing straight to their seats.

“The Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and The Queen are in the procession.

“It’s not unusual for Members of the Royal Family to be travelling in Commonwealth countries during Commonwealth week. There is no further comment.”

However, it has not been addressed why the Cambridges were originally meant to accompany the Queen in the Order of Service, before then making them take their seats before the Monarch’s arrival.

The Queen’s private secretary Edward Young is said to have headed the decision to exclude Meghan and Harry from the Order of Service.

This came to be a real blow to Harry and Meghan, who were according to the Mail “particularly hurt” as they do not officially step down until March 31.

Harry will keep his title of Commonwealth Youth Ambassador, provided by the Queen until the Megxit deadline when he will then be stripped of official duties.
