The Royal Family rift is set to be “blown open” following the Oprah Winfrey interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. According to Entertainment Tonight, Meghan Markle’s latest remarks are a sign that “the royal gloves are off”. In a clip released on Thursday, Meghan claims the Royal Family, which she called ‘The Firm,’ played a part in “perpetuating falsehoods” about herself and Harry.

Tensions have erupted between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Royal Family after it was revealed Harry and Meghan would be giving a wide-ranging interview to Oprah Winfrey.

Vanity Fair’s royal correspondent Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight: “Clearly this interview has set alarm bells ringing at the Palace

“I think this interview has potential to cause real damage between Harry and the rest of the Royal Family.

“This is going to blow open that rift all over again.”

According to Ms Nicholl, the use of The Firm phrase has “a negative connotation” about the Royal Family.

Entertainment Tonight also said: “It suggests the Royals are more worried about business than the family.

“It also hints at Meghan’s annoyance with core family members and senior staffers

“Meghan’s apparent dig is just the latest shot fired in a brutal war of words.”

Royal author Robert Jobson has taken aim at the couple after the clip showing Meghan attacking The Firm was released.

In a post on Twitter, he wrote: “If Meghan Markle is using Oprah to accuse ‘The Firm’ (name used for the Royal Family) of ‘perpetuating falsehoods’ about her and Harry effectively ‘lying’ – I trust she has provable specifics.

“Pretty heavy stuff after claims she wouldn’t say anything to upset the Queen.”

On Friday, US network CBS has released a fourth teaser ahead of the much-anticipated interview with Oprah Winfrey.

In the latest clip, shared during CBS This Morning, Meghan was speaking alone with the US journalist.

Meghan claimed Buckingham Palace banned her from doing an interview with Oprah Winfrey before her wedding to Prince Harry.

The Duchess told Oprah she “wasn’t even allowed” to reject the interview personally and was forced to have members of the royal communications team in the room during the conversation.

The two-part interview featuring Meghan, Harry and Oprah was filmed around two weeks ago and will premiere in the US on Sunday night, before being televised on ITV on Monday evening at 9pm.

Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior royals to pursue a new life in the US last year.
