Jeremy Vine used a picture board with all of the major royals on it to explain why Prince Charles may limit the working Royal Family to only seven members and exclude several other notable relatives from the lineup. The presenter explained that the seven are likely to include Charles and Camilla with Prince William and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge and their children, but warned there may be calls to include Princess Anne in the new structure. Mr Vine suggested jealously may have a part to play in the decision as the Prince of Wales’ brothers, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, may grow angry if their sister is allowed to keep on working for the Crown and they are not.
Speaking on his Channel 5 show, Mr Vine explained why Princess Anne would be out of the new Royal Family.
He explained; “I was trying to figure out why Charles is thinking of seven [members].
“And looking at our board I think I have worked it out which is this – Charles has to stop with the royal children.
“Why? Because what he can’t do is where you ideally say it’s seven plus Anne because nobody wants to see Anne booted out.
“But then you cause real problems with Andrew and Edward because they say, ‘wait a second, if our sister is in it we should be in it too’.
“And that causes problems so Anne has the maturity to say ‘alright I’ll support this’.”
Mr Vine added it would be a “tight unit” in the Royal Family if the rumoured shake-up goes ahead.
Speculation and insiders have long suggested Prince Charles may introduce a letters patent when he ascends the throne which will further limit the number of royal titles given out.
Prince Charles and Princess Anne pay tribute to Prince Philip
While a 1917 letters patent only gives titles to certain Royal Family members, Prince Charles may seek to switch things up.
Under the patent, Harry, William and his firstborn son George are given titles of prince but later the Queen introduced another letters patent which extended the right to the rest of William’s children.
Meghan Markle claimed during her Oprah Winfrey interview that there were disputes over whether her son Archie would be made a prince and would therefore be entitled to palace protection.
But the 1917 letters patent would not give Archie a title until Prince Charles becomes king.

Archie may also never gain the title of a prince if the “slimming down” of the monarchy does indeed takes place under Charles.
Some royal commentators have predicted that Prince Edward and Sophie, the Countess of Wessex may step into more high profile royal roles as a vacuum has been left behind by Harry and Prince Philip.
A recent YouGov poll showed Prince Edward’s popularity rise the most out of all senior royals jumping from 41 percent to 54 percent.
On the other hand, Harry and Meghan were the only royals to not see a positive increase with even Prince Andrew’s favourability rising from sever to 10 percent.
Only 43 percent look at Prince Harry favourably compared to 29 percent for his wife.
