The Duke and Duchess of Sussex teamed up with WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom to sign the letter which called on the world’s leaders to “vaccinate the world”. But the couple are now being mocked with Twitter user calicoolbreeze1 labelling them “a retired prince and a retired actress” and Will Master saying “Americans don’t care” about royal titles.

But supporters have come out to defend the couple saying “it’s the way they should be addressed” out of “respect”.

In the open letter, Harry and Meghan claim promises of vaccine donations from nations are not reaching the globe’s most vulnerable.

Royals call on world leaders to vaccinate everyone

In the open letter, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex call on leaders to take urgent action reminding them that “lives literally depend on it”.

Along with WHO director Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus the trio writes “promises aren’t translating into vaccines reaching the people that need them.

Each of us come from very different places, backgrounds, and life experiences, but we share a common goal: to tackle global inequity.

Today, we join with others to urge global leaders to end this devastating inequity and end this pandemic once and for all.

“G20 leaders have the power to accelerate long-promised donations and to commit to breaking the hold that manufacturing countries and pharmaceutical companies currently have over access to the vaccines and how they’re made.”

‘Americans don’t care’

Twitter user Will Master took to the social media platform to say ‘Americans don’t care’ after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle used their royal titles, accusing them of not knowing “what a title is or what it is for.”

He added: “They don’t know the system of honours with its ranks and status or why it exists.

“It is mindless celebrity now.”

Earlier this week Meghan also used her royal title in a video showing her reading a book to children.

In the video, filmed for Brightly Storytime, the Duchess introduces herself with her name and title before speaking about her first published book.
