While the Queen and Prince Philip did not attend university, several of their children and grandchildren have earned their own degrees. Royals have travelled the breadth of the UK to attend, from St Andrews in Scotland to Cambridge University. Read on to find out what the Royal Family have studied over the years.
Many years ago it was uncommon for members of the Royal Family to attend university at all.
Usually male members of the Royal Family would spend some time in the military after they completed their schooling, while royal women were usually educated at home.
Before she was Queen, Princess Elizabeth and her sister Princess Margaret were both tutored at home by their governess Marion Crawford.
Unlike other students their age, the princesses did not sit any formal qualifications as part of their education.

The future Queen was taught how to speak fluent French, however, and to prepare her for her future role she also received an education on the constitution.
The Queen’s eldest son Prince Charles entered Trinity College, Cambridge in 1967 to study Archaeology, Anthropology and History.
Charles eventually graduated with a 2.2 degree, and became the first heir to the throne to have earned a university degree in the process.
Several members of the Royal Family have since decided to attend university, but the subjects and places the royals have chosen to study have varied greatly.
What did the Royal Family study at university?
Prince Edward, the Queen and Prince Philip’s youngest son, read History at Jesus College, Cambridge, eventually graduating with a 2.2 degree.
Edward was admitted to the college with a C and two D’s at A-level, which was below the standard entry requirements for Cambridge at the time.
After a gap year, Prince William enrolled at the University of St Andrews in Scotland to study History of Art, and he met his future wife Kate Middleton on the same course.

It was Kate who convinced William not to drop out of university and to instead enrol on a Geography course at the university.
William eventually earned a 2.1 Master of Arts degree in the subject, while Kate also earned herself a 2.1 Master of Arts degree in History of Art.
Prince Harry’s wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, studied Theatre and International Studies at the prestigious Northwestern University in the US.
Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York’s eldest daughter Princess Beatrice studied History and History of Ideas at Goldsmiths, University of London.
Beatrice’s sister Princess Eugenie attended Newcastle University, where she studied Art History, English Literature and Politics.
Princess Anne’s eldest child Peter Phillips attended the University of Exeter, where he studied Sports Science.
His younger sister Zara Tindall attended the same university to study Equine Physiotherapy, before going on to compete as an equestrian in the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Prince Harry did not attend university, as he decided to pursue a career in the Army.
Princess Anne and Prince Andrew also do not have university degrees.
