The heir apparent to the Belgian throne will graduate this year from the UWC Atlantic College in Wales. And 18-year-old Princess Elizabeth already has her mind set on her next path as a student.

The Belgian palace confirmed this week its heir to the throne will attend the same school her father King Philippe attended in the late 1970s, the Royal Military Academy in Belgium.

At this institute, Princess Elizabeth, Duchess of Brabant, will attend, among others, classes in social and military sciences.

All the officers at the Belgium Army, Air Force, Navy and Medical attend this prestigious academy.

Elizabeth is yet to graduate from the Welsh school she joined in March 2018 and is still not clear when and how she will pass her A-levels given the current nationwide lockdown.

At the beginning of the pandemic, the heir apparent flew back to Belgium to stay with her family.

The committed princess has already started to train for the tough Royal Military Academy by doing physical exercised like jogging, the Belgium palace revealed.

Moreover, Princess Elisabeth is set to start at the end of August a four-week initiation camp which will further prepare her to the new school.

King Philippe, who attended this institute between 1978 and 1981, delivered a speech at the Royal Military Academy last year, recalling just the big of an impact this training has had on his life.

He said: “I remember it intensely. I was proud.

“It was like a whole new world opened up for me.

“The iron discipline, the physical training and the high academic standards will test you.

“They will also make you know yourself better.”

General Lutgard Claes, commander at the academy, said to be honoured to be able to educate the princess.

The General, who is also the first woman ever appointed to run the academy, said: “We are very satisfied and honoured to be able to receive the Princess.

“It gives us great joy to see the training being appreciated by the leaders of the country.”

The whole of Belgium came together last year to celebrate Princess Elizabeth’s 18th birthday in October.

Extended members of her Royal Family, politicians, leading personalities and 80 teenagers were invited to the Royal Palace in Brussels to celebrate the heir apparent.

A ceremony marking her birthday was also broadcasted on Belgian TV channels.

In a poignant speech, the young royal said: “These 18 years have been filled with many rewarding moments that have made me the person I am today.

“My family has always been there to support and encourage me.

“Together we are a strong team.

“Thanks mama for your presence and your listening ear.

“Thanks dad for your trust. I know I can always count on you.”
