Buckingham Palace has not yet responded to a number of shocking allegations made by Meghan and Harry in their Oprah Winfrey interview, which was aired on ITV last night. Prince Charles also kept up the wall of silence as he carried out a visit to an NHS pop-up vaccine clinic in a north-west London church today. At the end of the visit, a member of the press asked: “Sir, what did you think of the interview?”
The Prince of Wales just looked at him and chuckled, before carrying on walking.
Graham Smith, the CEO of Republic, has warned the Royal Family they can’t keep “everything hidden away” anymore.
He told Express.co.uk: “The biggest problem with the monarchy is that it can only survive when shrouded by secrecy and spin.
“If politicians get it wrong we can get rid of individuals without pulling the whole house down.
“If royals get it wrong we’re either stuck with them or the whole lot has to go.
“So they hide everything away as much as possible, and that causes problems that build up over years.
“That’s all changing now Harry and Meghan are freed from the circus and clearly keen to shed some light on what happens at the palace.
“This could pose an existential crisis for the royals.”
Prince Charles was a hot topic during the bombshell interview last night, as Harry blasted being “literally cut off financially” from his father last year.
He said he had what Diana left him and “without that we would not have been able to do this”, referring to the couple’s decision to step down as senior royals and move to the US.
Meghan was equally scathing about how the Firm handled her mental health issues.
She said: “I went to the institution, and I said that I needed to go somewhere to get help. I said that, ‘I’ve never felt this way before, and I need to go somewhere.’

“And I was told that I couldn’t, that it wouldn’t be good for the institution.”
Meghan described how nothing was done when she contacted other unnamed individuals and she “had to find a solution”.
However, the royals came under the most scrutiny when Oprah asked about the couple’s son Archie’s lack of title.
She asked: “Do you think it’s because of his race? I know that’s a loaded question.”
Meghan replied: “I can give you an honest answer. In those months when I was pregnant, all around this same time, so we (had) the conversation of he won’t be given security, he’s not going to be given a title.
“And also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.”
Oprah was told it had been raised by a member of the Royal Family with Harry, but the identity of who made the comment was not revealed.
Meghan said: “That was relayed to me from Harry, those were conversations the family had with him, and I think it was really hard to be able to see those as compartmentalised conversations.”
Harry also declined to name the person and said: “That conversation, I am never going to share. At the time it was awkward, I was a bit shocked.”
The Duke also added that none of his relatives spoke out in support of Meghan after she faced racism in the media.
He said: “No-one from my family ever said anything over those three years. That hurts.”
