Royal COVERGIRLS: All the Royals who have starred on Vogue cover – and why Meghan WON’T
Appearing on the cover of Vogue has always signalled to the world that you have made it as a style icon. The fashion bible is the title most aspiring fashion models would love to be pictured on although very few ever will. Vogue’s cover girls are typically the most famous, beautiful and stylish women in the world, many of whom are the ‘it’ girl of the moment. Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Cara Delevingne are just a few of the megastars to be shot for the glossy publication numerous times.
Royal women rarely feature despite their huge appeal and massive status.
But on the odd occasion that they do there is always a buzz of excitement from Vogue readers and the wider public.
Meghan Markle, 37, has created a stir after it was reported she will guest edit the September issue of British Vogue writing on issues close to her heart.
However, the Duchess of Sussex will not appear on the cover in accordance with her wishes.

The pictures will be shot inside Frogmore Cottage, Windsor, but Meghan’s baby son Archie Harrison and husband Prince Harry will not feature, The Sun reported.
A magazine source told the publication: “This is nothing to do with Archie, or family, or home life. It’s purely on women’s empowerment.”
Meghan will not be following in the footsteps of her sister-in-law Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, who became Vogue’s Centenary cover star in June 2016.
Appearing in a 10-page shoot, Kate opted for a casual, country image to reflect her love of the countryside.

Former Vogue editor-in-chief Alexandra Shulman said at the time: “It’s a huge honour and incredibly exciting for us to have HRH The Duchess of Cambridge featuring on the cover of British Vogue and as part of our centenary issue.
“For me personally it has been a wonderful experience to have had the opportunity to work with her on this, and I am immensely proud of what we have produced.
“This special issue of the magazine is very close to my heart as it had to reflect on 100 years of British Vogue, and so I am hugely grateful that we have been able to continue with our tradition of outstanding royal portraiture with these pictures.”
Princess Diana was also no stranger to Vogue covers, having featured on the cover of three British Vogue editions and one of US Vogue during her life.
