Royal bombshell: Expert issues bold warning to royal family – ‘he’s not popular’
ITV News’s former royal editor Tim Ewart made the shocking admission during Yahoo UK’s ‘The Royal Box’. He claims that the royal family could face a problem when the Queen passes on and the country is faced with a new monarch. In the wake of the Queen’s passing, her son Prince Charles is destined to take over as King.
However, Mr Ewart suggests Charles is “not as popular as she is.”
He said: “The reality for the monarchy is that when the Queen dies, one of the reasons for the monarchy’s popularity will be gone.
“A large part of the popularity of the monarchy is based on the popularity of the Queen. Will that transfer to her son?
“Open question, we don’t know, but there are suggestions that he’s not as popular as she is.
Mr Ewart also said Meghan could appeal to a new royal fanbase that could fulfil the Queen’s last wish for her family before she passes on.
Mr Ewart said: “I think what Harry and Meghan have done is appeal very greatly to a younger generation which is what the Queen wanted.”
During the show, the royal expert also said Harry struggled to tell Meghan how difficult life would be in the Royal Family.
He said that anyone coming into the family had to be “prepared for what it’s going to be like”.
He told the show: “When it was Diana, there were photographers, there were cameramen, people weren’t using smartphones.
“Now every single person that a member of the Royal Family meets has a smartphone up.
“Every single word that is said, doesn’t matter where the TV cameras are, doesn’t matter where the snappers, the photographers, they can be anywhere. But every single person has got their phone up or their iPad up, nothing is private anymore.”
It comes as Harry also wants Archie Harrison to lead a “non-royal life” like his cousin Zara Tindall, according to a royal commentator.
