The Cambridges will celebrate 10 years of marriage later this month, on April 29. Three children later and thousands of royal functions under their belts, Kate and William often appear to be the picture of happiness. The couple, who met at the University of St Andrews, have sought to modernise the Royal Family in recent years by championing a number of mental health causes.
Kate and William’s work ethic has been praised by many, including by Dame Mary Berry who said they “want to get involved” with philanthropic projects.
Two years ago, she told the BBC that they didn’t “just arrive and shake a few hands, make a few smiles and a speech” but wanted to “see what they can do”.
According to data from Savoy Stewart, William carried out 104 engagements last year and Kate managed 79 in 77 days.
William’s goal is reportedly to “modernise and develop” the Royal Family ‒ a dream once shared by Prince Harry, before his and Meghan Markle’s departure from the Firm last year.
Kate, who studied art history at university, won over the public after her relationship with William was first reported in 2004.
Their nuptials seven years later, which followed them breaking up in 2007, was watched by 17.6 million people in the UK and two billion worldwide.
While the Duchess appears to have been well-received by the public, a royal commentator recalled one of her very rare mistakes.
The blunder was recounted in OK! magazine’s Royal Anniversary Special to commemorate Kate and William’s decade of marriage.

Duncan Larcombe, who was one of six journalists invited to the wedding, described the achievement as a milestone that is “impossible to underestimate”.
He claimed they had endured the difficulties of royal life and a young family “without so much as a moan”.
Mr Larcombe believed “their commitment to the Queen” and the country “has been unwavering”.
Their devotion to duty and service – much like Her Majesty – was “made even clearer” in the wake of “the controversy over Meghan and Harry’s departure”.

While the royal commentator claimed their union would never “have set the world on fire”, he felt they were commendable ambassadors for the UK.
Mr Larcombe described Kate and William as “shining lights” and while the Duchess had less time to prepare for royal life than her husband, she had excelled in the role.
He felt Kate was “more than capable” despite “only having a few years to learn the ropes”.
Mr Larcombe continued: “She was never going to be a rock-star, red-carpet royal.
“But in the last 12 months post-Megxit, we have really seen the coming of age of Kate.”
He believes the Duchess has “really started to look like a Queen-in-waiting” during that period.
Mr Larcombe said “the only time” he had “ever seen Kate put a foot wrong” was extremely minor.
He recalled: “She did it quite literally and got the heel of her shoe caught in a grate.
Kate Middleton ‘knows what her role is’ says expert
“Kate totally styled it out, but Prince William – who is Colonel of the Regiment – was laughing as she bent down to free her foot while a soldier held his salute.”
The blunder occurred during the 2013 St Patrick’s Day ceremony with the Irish Guards at Aldershot.
Mr Larcombe claimed the Queen would be “keen to recognise” the couple’s “last decade of loyal service” and “in particular, Kate’s unique contribution to the Firm”.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic an anniversary dinner or reception is “obviously impossible”, he explained.
Mr Larcombe doubted Her Majesty would “bestow any new honours or titles on the couple” but predicted she would reward them in some special way.
He explained: “Whatever she decides, as a Queen and grandmother, she will not let this occasion pass without paying tribute to Kate and William.”
