The royal couple already have a son called Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck who was born in February 2016.

The young royal, also known as the ‘dragon prince’, was not named until two months after he was born.

Prior to his official naming the heir-to-the-throne was called ‘The Gyalsey’ which translate to ‘prince’ in Dzongkha – the native language of Bhutan.

At the official naming ceremony, King Wangchuck said: “When the time comes for Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck to serve his country, he must always place the concerns of his country above all else and serve his people justly with great love and dedication.

“It will be his sacred responsibility to build a harmonious and just society, and thereby fulfil all the aspirations of his people.

“He must live such a life as a good human being and serve his country in a manner that will be exemplary and worthy of emulation.”

The newest addition to the royal family is set to be second-in-line to the Bhutan throne.

However if the child is girl she could be displaced by any future younger brother.

The British Royal Family had followed the same rules until 2013 before the Succession to the Crown Act was introduced.
