Royal baby: Prince Harry confirms when public will FIRST see Meghan Markle’s baby – video
Meghan Markle gave birth to a baby boy early this morning. Prince Harry said: “For us, I think we’ll be seeing you guys in probably two days time as planned, as a family, to be able to share it with you guys. And so everyone can see the baby.”
The Prince appeared with a grin on his face for the whole of his statement, in which he announced Meghan Markle gave birth to a “healthy boy” early this morning.
Prince Harry confirmed mother and baby are doing “incredibly well”.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are “absolutely thrilled”.
Speaking from Windsor, a beaming Prince Harry said: “I’m very excited to announce that Meghan and myself had a baby boy early this morning.
“A very healthy boy. Mother and baby are doing incredibly well.
“It’s been the most amazing experience I could ever possibly have imagined.
“How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension.
“Both absolutely thrilled and so grateful to all the love and support from everybody out there.”
An easel has been placed outside Buckingham Palace to announce the royal baby news. It will remain there for 24 hours.
The practice of posting a bulletin outside the Palace announcing a royal birth has gone on for at least as long as Buckingham Palace has been the Sovereign’s official residence – since 1837.
The newest arrival is the royal couple’s first child and they will be seventh in line to the throne.
They are the Queen and Prince Philip’s eighth great-grandchild.
