Royal baby: Bookies STOP taking bets after flurry on due date ‘an insider knows something’
The silence surrounding the household of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex is driving many royal fans and punters crazy, as they are looking for clues and news regarding Baby Sussex. But a sudden increase in the number of people betting Meghan’s firstborn will be delivered on May 2 has attracted the suspicion of industry experts.
Bookmaker review website bookmakers.tv said many bookies have suspended all bets on the tots arriving tomorrow, arguing someone may be holding a piece of information bookies don’t have.
A spokesperson for bookmakers.tv said: “There has been an aboral number of bets on Meghan giving birth tomorrow, Thursday the 2nd May, forcing bookies to stop taking bets on the market altogether.
“Ever since this morning, the stream of bets led bookies to believe that perhaps the punters, or an inside source, know something more than the industry.”
However, punters may have been drawn to bet on May 2 simply because they are hoping Baby Sussex will be sharing their birthday with their little cousin Princess Charlotte, daughter of Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge.
This comes as Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland’s dog was spotted today being walked by a dogwalker, signalling the Duchess of Sussex’s mum is now in the UK to support her daughter with the birth of her firstborn.
Meghan’s official due date hasn’t been revealed by Kensington Palace, but Baby Sussex is believed to be due any day now.
The Duchess of Sussex herself let slip some details regarding her pregnancy during a royal engagement in mid-January, helping royal fans to work out when the baby is due.
During a visit to Birkenhead in Wirral, Merseyside, Meghan told fans she was six months pregnant and that she would be expecting her royal baby to arrive towards the end of April or the very beginning of May.
The lack of news regarding Baby Sussex is leaving many royal fans “desperate”, “impatient” and frustrated.
One Twitter user wrote: “I am desperate for news on the #RoyalBaby it’s driving me nuts!”
Another said: “I’m so impatient & excited, where is this Royal Baby Sussex @RoyalFamily, is there any news from Harry & Meghan’s camp, anything at all??? #TheWaitGoesOn.”
The lack of details surrounding Meghan’s birth, whether she will deliver the baby at home or at hospital and the exact due date, are a consequence of a privacy demand issued by the Duke and Duchess themselves in April.
In a rare statement, Meghan and Harry informed royal fans they are “grateful” for the goodwill and excitement surrounding Baby Sussex, but they wanted to keep plans surrounding Baby Sussex “private”.
They said: “Their royal highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private.
“The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.”
