Royal baby: Bhutan’s King and Queen finally announce name of latest addition

King Jigme Khesar and Queen Jetsun Pema have revealed their newborn son’s name is Jigme Ugyen Wangchuck. He will be referred to as Gyalsey Ugyen Wangchuck.
The newest member of Bhutan’s royal family arrived on March 19, 2020.
Royal fans have been waiting almost four months to find out the tot’s name.
He is the second child of the King and Queen of Bhutan.
Their other son Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel was born in February 2016.
The King and Queen of Bhutan posted a series of photos on Instagram as they shared their baby’s name.
The caption said: “On the auspicious occasion of the Birth Anniversary of Guru Rinpoche (Trelda Tsechu), His Royal Highness the Second Gyalsey to His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen has been named Jigme Ugyen Wangchuck.
“His Royal Highness will be referred to as Gyalsey Ugyen Wangchuck.
“His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen graced the Trelda Tsechu prayer ceremony at Thimphu Tashichodzong, and offered prayers along with Their Royal Highnesses Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel and Gyalsey Ugyen Wangchuck.
“The Trelda Tsechu prayers are performed annually for the benefit of all sentient beings.
“Led by the Prime Minister, representatives of the Dratshang, Government and Armed Forces offered Mendrel Ku Sung Thukten to His Royal Highness the Gyalsey on behalf of the people of Bhutan.”
Royal fans reacted with delight to the announcement.
