Road rage driver bit woman's face and pulled her hair in 'unprovoked attack'

A carer has been left scarred for life after a ‘road rage’ driver got out her car and bit her face in a ‘vicious’ unprovoked attack.

The female motorist also punched and kicked the 23-year-old victim, before pulling clumps of her hair out in the attack which took place in Stoke, Plymouth, on Monday.

Shortly after the incident, the driver fled in her Peugeot. Police said they are now investigating the attack, which they described as ‘unprovoked’.

The victim, who does not wish to be named, needed two stitches to her face and jabs to make sure she does not catch hepatitis.

Her mother, from Plymouth, said since the attack her daughter has been too afraid to drive and had missed shifts as a carer.

The mother said: ‘She [the other driver] is going to have a lovely Christmas, but Christmas is ruined for all of us. My daughter has been scarred for life over something silly.

‘My 87-year-old father started crying his eyes out when he saw his granddaughter. This has ruined it for all of us.’

She said her daughter had pulled out in her Vauxhall Corsa from Hotham Place next to Victoria Park into Molesworth Road at about 2.30pm.

The mother said the Peugeot was driving quickly down the road and they both slammed on the brakes.

‘But it was not even a near-miss,’ she continued. ‘It was the sort of thing that any normal person would have got over quickly, but this woman got really angry.’

She claimed the Peugeot driver reversed and followed her daughter down a side street.

The mum said her daughter was blocked in the narrow road by the other driver and was forced to stop, before the driver got out the Peugeot leaving behind a male passenger. She said the driver then attacker her daughter.

The mother said: ‘It was a very, very vicious assault. Clumps of hair came out and a whole bag has been handed to the police.

‘She pulled her head down and bent down to bite her face. She pulled her head away as if she was trying to get a chunk out of her face.

‘That is what is going through my daughter’s head constantly. She has had a lot of trouble sleeping.’

Her daughter was taken to Derriford Hospital for five or six hours and was given two stitches to her face – which are due to come out on New Year’s Eve.

The mother said: ‘The doctors are very worried about infection. They said that a human bite is worse than a dog bite.’

She added that a man came out from a house during the assault – only for the woman’s passenger to leave the car and ‘have a go at him’.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: ‘The altercation happened following an incident on the road between the victim and the female driver of a silver convertible car.

‘The female offender got out of her vehicle and approached the victim’s car before assaulting her in an unprovoked attack.

‘She grabbed the victim by the hair before punching her in the face numerous times. The victim, a woman in her 20s, was then bitten on the face. The offender got back into her vehicle and drove off.’
