River Wye hits record level: Hereford local shouts ‘I’m trapped’ as Storm Dennis strikes

A fifth severe flood warning has been issued for the areas and people in parts of Hereford are being told to evacuate their homes ahead of an expected peak of the River Wye.

The severe weather has caused the river to reach its highest ever recorded levels.

Many properties are being flooded for the first, trapping residents.

One social media user posted pictures of the floods last night.

She captioned her images: “We are trapped”.

The river’s current record now stands at 5.02 metres, beating the October 1998 record of 4.95 metres.
