The Duchess of Sussex and the Duchess of Cambridge’s fashion style is clearly in stark contrast. Kate Middleton has been pictured in almost every colour during her time in the public eye, whereas Meghan Markle, while mostly adhering to the strict royal dress rules, appears to prefer darker colours instead. According to 2019 Sunday Night documentary “Royal Baby”, the pregnancy style of the two Duchesses also greatly differs.

The narrator notes that Kate was the first royal to “marry pregnancy fashion with style”, and that hers was “an understated elegance”.

On the other hand, Meghan added “a little Hollywood drama” to her condition.

A fashion expert said: “Look at what Meghan is wearing today, showing the bump.

“Really skin-tight clothing but lordy, very, very Eiffel Tower high heels.

“She looks incredibly elegant but she probably wants to take off the heels and put on flip flops.”

It is not the first time Meghan’s style has been compared to that of Hollywood celebrities, though.

Ahead of their tour of Australia last summer, Harry is said to have put his foot down on Meghan’s sartorial choices.

He reportedly told her that her outfits were not “traditional enough” for the tour.

A fashion source who had recently visited Kensington Palace told The Mail on Sunday: “Meghan wanted to wear a tuxedo-style suit but Harry said it wasn’t traditional enough.

“Meghan is being told she needs to stop dressing like a Hollywood star and start dressing like a royal.”

The LA-born former actress had a 16-year-long acting career before she became a royal.

Having spent a lot of time at star-studded Hollywood events, Meghan already had her own established sense of style when she married Harry.

On the other hand, Kate Middleton spent most of her adulthood being groomed for a royal role.
