REVEALED: The moment Meghan and Harry may have hinted at BABY PLANS during wedding
During the ceremony, the Dean of Windsor spoke of marriage being the “foundation of family life in which children are born and nurtured”. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry then looked lovingly at each other, sharing broad smiles with one another. At that time, it was well known the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had strong ambitions to start a family.
Meghan had once described motherhood as being on her “bucket list”, while Harry had been open about one day having children.
So it came as little surprise when on October 15, 2018, Kensington Palace announced Meghan was pregnant – just five months after their wedding at St. George’s Chapel, windsor Castle.
During an interview following their engagement, Harry had hinted at plans to have children.
He said: “You know, I think one step at a time, and hopefully we’ll start a family in the near future.”
In the weeks leading up to their glittering marriage, Meghan also shared similar ambitions.
During a trip to Belfast in March 2018, the Duchess said when she was shown an innovative range for newborns: “I’m sure at some point we’ll need the whole lot.”
Meghan added: “I can’t wait to start a family, but in due time.”
Before he met his wife, Harry spoke about how seeing Prince William’s family grow had made him feel broody.
His brother and wife Kate Middleton have four children – Prince Greoge, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
Harry said then: “Of course I would love to have kids right now but there’s a process that one has to go through.
“Hopefully I’m doing all right by myself. It would be great to have someone else next to me to share the pressure, but you know, time will come and whatever happens, happens.”
The Prince is already godfather to a number of his friends’ children, and has taken up the role to Zara and Mike Tindall’s youngest daughter, Lena.
He said of being a godfather: “I think the key to that is to be able to grow up, but also be able to stay in touch with your childhood side,”
Meghan has also impressed Royal experts and onlookers with her affectionate nature towards children during royal engagements.
When visiting New Zealand as part of their commonwealth tour last year, Meghan rewarded two-year-old Catalina Rivera with a hug when she crept through railings during a walkabout by the Royal couple.
During an Instagram post in 2016, Meghan described the children of her close friend Benita Litt as fairy goddaughters.
The youngsters – Remi and Rylan – were two of the bridesmaids at her wedding to Harry.
When then-US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama visited Kate and William at Kensington Palace, he gave an insight into the close relationship Harry shares with is nephew Prince George.
Mrs Obama said: “I have to say the most precious thing if you haven’t already fallen in love with him, is to see him with his nephew.”
