REVEALED: The English hero featured in Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s new home – photo

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are understood to have bought a unique picture of Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton earlier this month. The photo, believed to have been bought by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, depicts Hamilton climbing into his Mercedes F1 AMG Formula 1 vehicle before claiming the first place for the sixth time in the British Grand Prix at Silverstone Circuit earlier this month, Hello! magazine understood. The beautiful picture has been taken by Leeds-based photographer Richard Wilson, who is selling an A3 size version of the photograph online.

But the royals have asked him to produce a bespoke A1 sized aluminium print for them.

The photographer hasn’t disclosed who his clients were and whether he was shipping the framed picture to Frogmore Cottage, but did reveal on Instagram he was shipping his photograph to “a royal household”.

Mr Wilson added: “The 1 of 1 A1 aluminium print has just arrived. Ready to be shipped to a Royal household.

“I’m immensely proud of having one of my photographs displayed in a house owned by a member of a Royal Family.

“Never had an image printed in this size or on this material, I’m blown away.

“Thank you all so so much for the support and many messages with kind words, I’m constantly blown away by people going out of their way to send such messages, it means more than I can ever express. Thank you.”

Mr Wilson spoke in amazement about the offer he received.

He told Hello!: “I’m thrilled with the fact that future generations of the Royal Family will get the chance to look back on the great sporting history we have in motorsport and we witnessed history in the making.

“I was amazed they had seen the image, let alone purchased one.

“When they first contacted me I thought it must be a wind-up and couldn’t quite believe it.

“I’m not surprised it was a Lewis print as he is a sporting icon, not just in motorsport but across the globe, and he will be considered as one of the greatest alongside Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan and his own hero Ayrton Senna.”

One of Mr Wilson’s follower on Instagram praised the anonymous buyers for their “mind”.

They said: “Congrats mate, not really bothered who it’s going to… they have excellent mind.”

Hamilton has won five Formula 1 championship – in 2008, 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018 – and has won so far 80 grand prix in F1 alone.

And Prince Harry is known to be a fan of the English champion.

As he was the special guest of the Mercedes box during another Silverstone Grand Prix, Prince Harry congratulated to Hamilton for his victory via radio.

He said: “Lewis, thank you very very much for not making the British public sweat.

“You are an absolute legend, well done mate.”

Hamilton then asked his team if he could celebrate his victory by doing so-called “donuts”, circular skid-mark patterns of rubber left on the ground by rotating the rear of the F1 vehicle around the opposite set of wheels in a continuous motion.

His team said no, but Harry became the protagonist of a hilarious exchange.

By taking the microphone to speak via radio to the champion, Harry said: “Yes Lewis, you are allowed to do donuts.”

The prince then left the box laughing, saying: “He asked can I do donuts?

“They said no, I said yes.”

Prince Harry has seen several grand prix in the UK live – and he was just a child when he was first taken to the asphalt by his mother, late Princess Diana.

On July 10 1994, Harry and his brother Prince William met the then British F1 hero David Coulthard.
