REVEALED: How Markle family feud began BEFORE Meghan’s royal life

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have just welcomed their royal baby Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor into the world. However, with an ongoing family feud simmering between the Duchess of Sussex and her father Thomas Markle Snr, it remains to be seen whether the 74-year-old will meet his new grandson. The pair’s difficult relationship came to a head in the run-up to Harry and Meghan’s royal wedding last year, when Mr Markle became embroiled in a series of staged paparazzi photos and leaked the news that he would not attend the wedding to celebrity website TMZ.

However, the “bad blood” between the father read daughter stretches back to before Meghan’s entry into royal life, according to an expert.

Pod Save the Queen is hosted by Ann Gripper and features Daily Mirror Royal Editor Russell Myers.

In an episode which first aired in August 2018 Mr Myers spoke about the ongoing feud.

He said: “One of Meghan’s friends has revealed that there were huge problems way before this with Meghan and her father.

“This is just the public explosion of all the bad blood there has been between them over the years.”

Daily Mirror Fashion Director Amber Graafland added: “There is the possibility that Meghan wants this distancing and there were these problems before.

“And maybe actually what she wants  is to cut all ties.

“But that’s impossible, and if that is the case then that was very naive on her part.”

Most recently, Thomas Markle Snr’s ex-wife, Meghan’s former stepmother, Roslyn Markle has spoken about the family.

Ms Markle told the Daily Mirror this weekend: “Knowing Tom as I do, Meghan would be a fool to have him in her life.

“While he portrays himself as a loving father, he was anything but to our two children during our marriage. It may sound cliched but a leopard does not change its spots.”

She added: “Repeatedly he has shown to Meghan he cannot be trusted. She must know that now. I speak not out of bitterness, my life moved on many years ago, but out of concern.

“Archie deserves to be brought up in a happy home, not in this vengeful situation that has been created.”
