Rescue team sent to Thames after man seen in river

A search operation is underway after a man was seen in the River Thames by Caversham Bridge in Reading.

A police spokesperson said: ‘Thames Valley Police is currently on scene at the river near Caversham Bridge and the surrounding area, following a call at around 10.25am that a man was seen in the water.

‘Officers are currently working with other emergency services to try and locate the man.

‘He is described as an Asian man, in his thirties, with a beard, wearing a black puffa-style jacket.

‘If anyone has seen this man, or believe they know who he may be, please get in touch by calling 101, quoting incident 438 of January 10.’
