Rescue boats scramble to ‘migrants in water’ as record crossings reached
Express reports from Channel as migrant boats approach UK
Boatloads of asylum seekers have negotiated the choppy seas of the English Channel en route to Britain, having been escorted into UK waters by French military vessels, Express.co.uk can reveal.
Audio heard by this website reveals that some migrants fell from their small boat into the water as they made the perilous journey.
Express.co.uk has reached out to the RNLI to confirm whether it has had to apprehend asylum seekers in the Channel.
This comes as the total number of people crossing the Channel in the last five-and-a-half years may have ticked over 100,000, according to analyses by the PA news agency.
