Relatable moment Diane Abbott 'puts two left shoes on in rush to vote'

Ever been so eager to do something that you just grabbed whatever clothes were nearest to get out the door?

Diane Abbott seems to have had one of those moments today as she arrived at a polling station wearing two left shoes, from different pairs.

She’s got a bit of flak for it online, with some asking things like: ‘How can you expect Diane Abbott to manage our national security when she can’t even put the right shoes on?’

We’re more impressed by it than anything, though.

Despite the bad weather, she turned out to campaign for Meg Hillier in east London’s Hackney South in whatever shoes were available.

Get the vote out, Diane! It’s about politics, not pumps.

People spotted the apparent mistake when Meg Hillier tweeted a photo of them together.

One person responded saying it was ’embarrassing’.

Another said: ‘For someone who spends so much time with her foot in her mouth you’d think she’d know how to put on a pair of shoes.’

However, someone else tried to get the discussion back onto politics, tweeting: ‘For the many, not the shoe.’

In any case, the important thing is to get out and vote – whatever footwear you choose for the occasion.
