Rees-Mogg issues URGENT warning to next Tory leader – ‘Right Brexit or we’ll be also-ran’
Speaking to TalkRADIO, Jacob Rees-Mogg argued it would be “very difficult to succeed electorally in future” for his Party unless the Conservatives delivered Brexit by October 31. The chair of the European Research Group of Tory backbenchers claimed a “fundamental change in British politics” will be inevitable. He said: “We may well be seeing a fundamental change in our political system based on what has happened with Brexit to both the Conservative Party and Labour Party.”
Asked if he “blamed” Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn for the current political impasse in Parliament and all over the country, he replied: “I certainly blame Theresa May for failing to deliver Brexit and going back on her promise that no deal is better than a bad deal.
“And failing to get us out on the 29th of March I think has had a fundamental effect on the Conservative Party.
“And if the new leader doesn’t put that right and put that right urgently, then the Tory Party will be the also-rans of the future elections.”
The staunch Brexiteer has endorsed Boris Johnson to become Theresa May’s successor in July.

The former foreign secretary’s team will reportedly launch his social media campaign for the top job that day before a number of Tories come out to back him.
An insider told The Sun: “There are MPs supporting Boris who’ve been told to wait until Monday to go public. It could be an army.”
Another source added that Mr Johnson wanted to make a move before US president Donald Trump’s state visit grabs the spotlight next week.
They said: “Monday won’t be the official Boris launch but I think there’s a recognition that they now need to do something before Trump’s visit takes over – to get some momentum.”
The Tory leadership hopeful, who has vowed to take the UK out of the EU on October 31 with or without a deal if he is made prime minister, has already had a string of MPs endorse him.
And Mr Johnson is the bookmakers’ favourite of the 12 candidates battling for Theresa May’s job.
The former London mayor is 2/1 with Ladbrokes to be the next Tory leader.
Earlier this week, a poll by Conservative Home put Mr Johnson as the frontrunner for the leadership race.
