Ramsay’s igloos get cold shoulder from planners
The foul-mouthed chef lodged plans to place the log cabins there to create more space for friends and family to stay. His decision came after Ramsay’s wife Tana, 44, gave birth to the couple’s fifth child Oscar in April. Made in Estonia, the cabins cost £40,000 each, have three windows and are clad in spruce shingles and plywood battens. They include a kitchen, double bed and shower. David Beckham and film director Guy Ritchie brought similar huts for their homes in Oxfordshire and Wiltshire.
Under the proposals submitted to Wandsworth Council, the cabins, almost nine yards long, would face each other at the
bottom of the garden of the eight-bedroom Victorian home Ramsay shares with Tana, Oscar and older children Megan, 21, twins Jack and Holly, 19, and Matilda, 17.
However, council officials have written to Ramsay twice that the plans aren’t acceptable because he hasn’t included a tree survey on how the development would impact on trees and vegetation in his back garden.
Sue Botley, from Wandsworth, wrote to Ramsay last week: “Tree survey required,” having already sent a reminder to Ramsay’s planning consultants.
The “modest” structures, say Ramsay’s planning consultants, “will be for use by family and guests of the owners only”.
The Hell’s Kitchen star has previously clashed with his neighbours elsewhere over plans to cut down a pair of 100-year-old trees to make way for his fleet of supercars at his new £4.4million holiday home in Cornwall.
