Railway horror: Huge delays on key South West route after emergency ‘incident’ on track

All lines have been closed after the incident, with routes operating between Newton Abbot and Exeter St Davids either delayed or redirected. Disruptions on the train lines are expected to last until 6:30pm.  

Great Western Railway issued a statement updating travellers on the incident.

They said: “Due to a person hit by a train between Exeter St Davids and Newton Abbot all lines are closed.

“Train services running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised. 

“Disruption is expected until 18:30 02/11.”

“At present we are unable to operate any train services between Newton Abbot and Exeter St Davids until the emergency services have attended and dealt with the incident.”
