Queen's priceless reaction when told she's 'the heart of the nation'
The Queen was very much on funny form last night, giving a meme-worthy reaction to being told she is ‘the heart of the nation’.
From poking fun at American presidents to cutting cakes with swords, the 96-year-old monarch has a legendary humour.
And it is no surprise that over her 70-year reign she has probably become immune to flattery.
During her Platinum Jubilee celebrations at Windsor Castle yesterday, TV presenter Alan Titchmarsh laid it on thick.
He told guests: ‘For 70 years, there has been one constant heartbeat of this nation. And that heart belongs to Her Majesty the Queen.’
As the crowd erupted in cheerful applause, the Queen seemed to nonchalantly nod in agreement – a priceless reaction that went viral on social media.
Many viewers turned the hilarious moment into a meme, comparing Her Majesty with Norwich’s finest, Alan Partridge.

Andrew Eerington wrote on Twitter ‘Great burn from the Queen’, while another tweet said: ‘The Queen’s reaction is me when pretending to understand a seminar.’
Unsurprisingly, some Brits said this was their favourite part of last night’s event, titled A Gallop Through History.
‘As commander and chief of the Armed Forces, head of the Commonwealth, leader of the nation we are proud to live in,’ Titchmarsh added.
‘We sometimes forget that our head of state is actually a person, feels as we do, enjoys the things we do, and is very much a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother as well as being our monarch.’
Last night’s finale to the Royal Windsor Horse Show also paid tribute to the late Duke of Edinburgh and his love of carriage driving.
His granddaughter Lady Louise, who picked up Philip’s beloved pastime, drove his carriage around the arena – as a teary-eyed Queen watched on.
Mr Titchmarsh added: ‘One of Her Majesty’s personal pleasures is horses and ponies in all their guises.
‘One thing the Queen takes great happiness from is her family’s involvement in her love, whether it be racing, eventing, showing rare breeds or just riding out in Windsor great park.’
