Royal author Phil Dampier predicts Lady Louise, 17, will follow in the footsteps of her parents Prince Edward, 57, and Sophie, 56, by taking up a key position. He added that the young royal is “definitely a favourite” of Her Majesty.
Mr Dampier also highlighted how the Earl and Countess of Wessex and their two children see the monarch regularly as they live just 11 miles away from Windsor Castle at Bagshot Park.
He told the Sun: “Lady Louise is definitely a favourite of the Queen and I can see her having an important role in the royal family in the future.
“Her Majesty sees a lot of Edward and Sophie and their children at Windsor Castle as they live nearby at Bagshot Park.
“The Queen is very close to her mother Sophie and of course there has always been a bond between them because Sophie nearly died giving birth and Louise has had her eye condition to cope with.
“But she has grown into a lovely and intelligent young woman and the Queen adores her.”
Lady Louise and her younger brother James, Viscount Severn, 13, are said to be favourites of Her Majesty due to the pair enjoying their summer holidays at Balmoral.
A source previously told the Sun: “The Queen loves the fact that Louise and James relish their time at Balmoral, and she has become particularly close to Louise, who seems to have become her favourite grandchild, closely followed by James.”
The Wessexes are likely to have joined the Queen at her private Scottish residence this year.
It is the monarch’s first summer holiday in the Scottish Highlands without beloved husband Prince Philip, who died in April aged 99.

Sophie previously revealed Louise did not know her grandmother was the Queen until she started school.
In 2016, the Countess told Sky News: “I mean Louise had no concept really that the Queen and her grandmother were one and the same person.
“It wasn’t until she was at school that other children were mentioning it and saying, ‘Your gran is the Queen.’
“And she’d come home and say, ‘mummy they say that grandmama is the Queen.’
“And I said, ‘Yes,’ and she said, ‘I don’t understand what they mean.’”
