This comes after the Queen made the shocking decision not to attend the upcoming climate summit, taking place at the start of November. Instead, the monarch is planning to address the attendees through a video message from Windsor Castle.
Speaking to the Mirror, a royal source said: “This decision was not taken lightly by Her Majesty.
“It would have been a long journey up to Glasgow and the reception is a long event, which she was very much looking forward to.
“However, the Queen’s doctors have been very clear and instructed her to rest.
“She has been able to take on light duties but sadly attending COP would have been too much of an undertaking.”
Courtiers also reassured the Mirror that the Queen is “in good spirits”, insisting that her decision was largely made due to the amount of travel and time required by the event.
Just last week, the Queen pulled out of a trip to Northern Ireland upon receiving medical advice telling her to rest.
It had been hoped that this would allow the monarch to attend the COP26 Summit the following month.
But following an overnight stay in hospital last week, her first in more than eight years, Buckingham Palace said the 95-year-old had “regretfully decided” not to travel to Glasgow.

Palace sources described the decision as a “sensible precaution”.
Instead, doctors have told her to rest.
The Queen had been awaiting results from “preliminary investigations”, which were carried out last week at the King Edward VII hospital in Marylebone, London.
Royal sources have suggested that Her Majesty may need further checkups for the unknown medical condition.

A spokesperson for the Palace told said: “Following advice to rest, The Queen has been undertaking light duties at Windsor Castle.
“Her Majesty has regretfully decided that she will no longer travel to Glasgow to attend the evening reception of COP26 on Monday, November 1.
“Her Majesty is disappointed not to attend the reception but will deliver an address to the assembled delegates via a recorded video message.”
Prince Charles and Prince William, both keen environmental campaigners, will now take over the hosting of the event, alongside their wives the Duchess of Cornwall and Duchess of Cambridge.
This follows Prince William’s Earthshot Prize Award Ceremony which took place in North London earlier this month.
The £50million initiative is an ambitious environmental program aimed at finding new ideas and technologies around the world to tackle the climate crisis.
Speaking about the Queen’s absence from COP26, another royal source told the Mirror that Her Majesty “hoped no one would use it as an excuse not to attend”.
Sources also suggested that the monarch has been feeling “incredibly tired” recently, being told by doctors that she needed to take her health seriously and rest.
There has been growing concern over the Queen’s schedule after she attended 16 royal engagements during the first weeks of October.
She has also been seen using a walking stick at recent public events for the first time in more than twenty years.
