Queen's Christmas bubble revealed with 'ingenious plan' for Boxing Day
The Queen’s Christmas bubble is said to be set, as the Royal Family allegedly comes up with an ‘ingenious’ plan to spend Boxing Day together.
The royals traditionally celebrate Christmas at Sandringham in Norfolk – but, like millions of others, the monarch had some big decisions over who to spend the festive season with this year.
Coronavirus restrictions will be relaxed to allow three households to meet for five days between December 23 and 27 – but these bubbles must remain fixed, meaning people cannot swap between groups.
Her Majesty and Prince Philip will be spending Christmas Day with their younger son Prince Edward and his family, according to reports.
A source told the Daily Mail the Queen is close with Edward’s wife, Sophie, saying: ‘Prince Edward and his family will be one of the two in her bubble.’
It remains unknown who will be the third household to make it to the Queen’s dinner table this year.
However, other members of the Royal Family could join the celebration on December 26 for the traditional Boxing Day shoot.
Shoots can legally take place as they are classified as organised outdoor sports, meaning up to 30 members of the family could attend.
The source said: ‘The royal family’s traditional Boxing Day shoot could still take place, enabling them to see members of the family unable to join them on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.’
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh have a large family of four children and eight grandchildren, who are all nearly grown up, along with eight great-grandchildren.
Last year, those joining the monarch in Norfolk included the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, the Duke of York, Princess Beatrice and her then fiance Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, the Princess Royal and the Earl and Countess of Wessex.
