Her Majesty has tried to help the Duke and the Duchess of Sussex despite being “devastated” in private about their departure, according to a royal commentator. Royal author Phil Dampier said he believes the aftermath of Harry and Meghan’s exit from the Royal Family has left the Monarch “very upset”.

Mr Dampier told the Royal Beat: “In public, the Queen has bent over backwards to try and [help Meghan and Harry].

“But in private she’s devastated by what’s happened. She had high hopes for Meghan and Harry with going out into the Commonwealth but it’s all been thrown back in her face. She must be very, very upset by it.”

Editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine Ingrid Seward echoed Mr Dampier’s claims, adding that the Queen is “saddened” by the current situation.

She said: “The Commonwealth is her baby, that’s what Prince Philip says, so I really feel that she’s so saddened.

“But she will not put up with rudeness and she dislikes intensely private conversations being repeated.

“Both of which, things Harry and Meghan are doing a lot of the time.

“Maybe not personally but through their LA publicists.”

Royal insiders have claimed that the Queen has had enough of Prince Harry and Meghan’s “mistruths”.

The Mail on Sunday’s Kate Mansey told MailPlus’ Palace Confidential that the Royal Family insiders feel “enough is enough”.

She said: “The Queen was not happy. It’s particularly significant that tempers are at such a level in the Palace that impeccable sources – insiders – are telling me that enough’s enough.

“I think this is very much a shot across the bows for the Sussexes’ spin machine.

“Will they jump on every little thing? No. But when it relates to the heart of what the Queen has said in a conversation, they will absolutely step in.

“They are not going to stand for ‘mistruths’ – as I was told – being represented in the global media.”
