Good Morning Britain panellists Andrew Pierce and Kevin Maguire discussed the Queen’s approach to Prince Andrew with ITV’s Susanna Reid. Mr Pierce stated the Duke of York has reached a level of public unpopularity that he did not think was possible.
Ms Reid said: “So what is toxic is what is happening with Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, Buckingham Palace have got to tackle that at the same time haven’t they?”
Mr Pierce replied: “That poll is quite interesting, it shows that the popularity of Prince Andrew is at -73 percent, I did not know anybody could be that unpopular.
“The Queen has effectively sacked him and stripped him of his public duties, we never see him in public anymore but the FBI, we know want to talk to him, not as a suspect but they want to talk to him about his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein.”
The YouGov poll Mr Pierce referenced had Prince Andrew’s popularity at -62 percent from a survey of 1,500 people between October-December 2020.
Mr Maguire urged Queen Elizabeth II to make Prince Andrew cooperate with the FBI in their investigation into Jeffrey Epstein.
He said: “The Queen is sheltering Prince Andrew, her son.
“Why is she not telling him that he must speak to the FBI?
“Yes, he might have disappeared from public life because he is too much of an embarrassment for them.
Jeremy Vine: Royal family have got to deal with Prince Andrew
“But he has kept all his titles and I can see now why Harry was upset he lost a lot of honorary roles with the military because Andrew has kept his.
“If you look at the list he is still Colonel and Chief of a lot of regiments and she is protecting him, she is harbouring him.”
He added: “I understand the pressures on her as a mother.
“She should be telling Andrew you have to cooperate, remember they want to speak to him as a witness.”
Buckingham Palace declined to comment when contacted by Express.co.uk.

Prince Andrew stepped back from a working role within the Royal Family after a disastrous BBC Newsnight interview in which the Duke of York was grilled on his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.
The Duke has consistently denied any knowledge of Jeffrey Epstein’s behaviour and the circumstances surrounding the allegations of sexual abuse made against Epstein.
Epstein was arrested in July 2019 on federal sex trafficking and conspiracy charges related to the alleged abuse of hundreds of girls.
Prince Andrew has “categorically” denied having any sexual contact with any of the women associated with Epstein.
In August 2019 Prince Andrew released a statement regarding Jeffrey Epstein.
The statement read: “During the time I knew him, I saw him infrequently and probably no more than only once or twice a year,”
“I have stayed in a number of his residences. At no stage during the limited time I spent with him did I see, witness or suspect any behaviour of the sort that subsequently led to his arrest and conviction.”
The Duke added: “His suicide has left many unanswered questions and I acknowledge and sympathise with everyone who has been affected and wants some form of closure.”
