Following the departure of Meghan, 40, and Harry, 36, royal commentator Marlene Koenig claimed the pair were a valuable asset to the Firm. Without the young royal couple to take the Firm forward, Ms Koenig questioned what the future of the Royal Family may look like. Speaking to Express.co.uk, Ms Koenig said: “Harry and Megan who certainly do have a popular following, could have been extremely helpful.

“Helping supporting the royals would have been a huge asset but it didn’t end that way and we don’t know the full story.”

Ms Koenig added: “There’s still the question of what’s going to happen in the next few years, as the royals keep getting older?

“And there’s no younger group to take on some of these efforts.

“And that’s sad. I think that’s something that they’re going to have to deal with.

“That might be one of the biggest changes of losing Harry and Megan, is they lost two younger people.”

Although Ms Koenig regretted the loss, she did praise the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.

She added: “I mean, the Duchess of Gloucester has been brilliant all these years, you know, Danish-born and, you know, I always call them the unsung heroes of the royal family.

“And now he’s 77 and none of their children replace them as royals.”

Prince Richard is the first cousin to the Queen and 30th in line to the throne.

Since Meghan and Harry confirmed their departure from the Firm earlier this year, they are yet to return as a couple to the UK.

After relocating to California, the pair have begun to forge their media careers by signings deals with Spotify and Netlfix.

Meghan also released a children’s novel title ‘The Bench’ and has narrated a Disney film.

Meghan also launched the 40×40 initiative to mentor women returning to the workplace post-Covid.

The initiative asks women to donate 40 minutes of their time to those returning to work to provide support.

Announcing the programme, Meghan said: “In reflecting on my 40th birthday and the many things I am grateful for, I’m struck that time is among our greatest and most essential gifts: Time with our loved ones, time doing the things we love, time spent learning, laughing, growing, and the sacred time we have on this earth.

“Amongst the most valuable gifts of time is also time spent in service to others knowing that it can contribute to incredible change.

“To that last point, and with my 40th lap around the sun in mind, it made me wonder: what would happen if we all committed 40 minutes to helping someone else or to mentoring someone in need?

“And then what would happen if we asked our friends to do the same?

“If you are able, please join us and pledge 40 minutes today in service of others in the way that feels right to you.

“The time that you donate can contribute to a global wave of service and set in motion meaningful impact in our own communities, and across the world.”
