The Queen will return to Buckingham Palace to resume residence following her summer break in Balmoral, a royal expert has claimed. Roya Nikkhah said that we can expect Her Majesty and the Royal Family to make use of her London home next year due to the Platinum Jubilee, and to “justify” the Palace’s £369million taxpayer-funded refurbishment.

Speaking to True Royalty TV’s ‘The Royal Beat’, expert Roya Nikkhah said: “I think the plan is for her to stay at Windsor for the foreseeable.

“I suspect we may well see a lot more activity of her back at Buckingham Palace as we approach the Platinum Jubilee next year.

“That said, she is doing engagements at Buckingham Palace from October onwards, so I think we’ll see her having some audiences there, she can easily go up for the day for a few hours.

“Will she resume residence at Buckingham Palace? I think she will, because I think in order to justify a £369 publicly-funded refurb, to never have our monarch live again there, a lot of people will go ‘what’s the point?'”

The enormous £369million refurbishment of Buckingham Palace was announced in 2016, and is expected to take 10 years to complete.

The ambitious project marks the first major revamp for the Palace since the Second World War.

There are 775 rooms in the palace, including 52 royal and guest bedrooms, 188 staff bedrooms and 92 offices, along with 78 bathrooms.

Refurbishment details included installing new lifts, a new roof and replacing floorboards and electrical wiring.

Buckingham Palace has been the primary residence of the British monarch since Queen Victoria moved into the building in 1837.

Whilst the refurbishment has been underway, the Queen has been spending the majority of her time at Windsor Castle.

During the initial stages of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Queen and her late husband Prince Philip isolated at their Windsor residence, with a core group of staff nicknamed HMS Bubble.

The Queen and the Royal Family own a vast property portfolio across the United Kingdom, which includes a number of other royal residences.

The Queen is currently residing at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, where the Royal Family traditionally spend their summer holidays. Several members of the family have been sighted at the 50,000 acre estate, with the Queen due to return to official duties in London in October.

Each Christmas, the Royal Family stay at Sandringham, their residence in Norfolk, where they participate in the Christmas walk and greet the local community.

With the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee approaching next June, it is likely that the Royal Family will spend an increasing amount of time at Buckingham Palace.

The Palace will play a significant role in the celebrations, as it will host the garden tea party, the Jubilee concert and the balcony wave during Trooping the Colour.

The Queen will mark 70 years on the British throne with a four-day Bank Holiday due to take place over the 2nd-5th of June, 2022.
