Queen still working on 72nd wedding anniversary – but no sign of Prince Philip
The Queen is holding private meetings at Buckingham Palace on her 72nd wedding anniversary, while Prince Philip remains in Sandringham. The monarch was photographed shaking hands with the Ambassador of Suriname Reggy Martiales Nelson and his wife Haidy Nelson-Gravenberch and the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic Edil Baisalov.
The Queen was all smiles as she greeted the ambassadors ahead of their closed-door meetings.
Holding her signature handbag on one arm, the Queen looked radiant in a bright pink dress, accessorised with a pearl necklace and earrings.
While the Queen carries out several engagements in London, Prince Philip is said to be resting in the royals’ Sandringham estate.
The senior royal, who retired from public duties two years ago, is said to have arrived in Norfolk in early September, after spending the summer with the Queen at Balmoral.
The Duke of Edinburgh is also said to have suffered from “a bit of a wobble” earlier this autumn, and hasn’t “felt so energetic” for a few weeks.
Prince Philip is staying at Wood Farm, a five-bedroom house in the grounds of Sandringham, a source added.
They told The Sun: “A few weeks ago Philip had a bit of a wobble and hasn’t felt so energetic.
“He has been living quietly at Sandringham, where he spends most of his time reading and pottering about.
“Until recently he has been very active — carriage riding, fishing at Balmoral and driving around royal estates — although he no longer drives on public roads following his crash in January.
“His mind is as sharp as ever.
“However the sad reality is that the Queen is more isolated.
“They are both making an extraordinary personal sacrifice for the country.”
Express.co.uk has contacted Buckingham Palace for a comment on the Duke’s health.
The palace said it won’t comment on the source’s claims.
