The Queen held an audience with Mr Trudeau in the run-up to her historic trip to Cornwall, where world leaders are gathered to attend the G7 summit. Buckingham Palace announced the audience was held via video link.  

The Queen regularly holds audiences with political leaders and diplomats as well as – albeit less often – with military and religious leaders.

These meetings generally last around 20 minutes.

The content of the conversations is entirely private and no written transcript or recording is ever made.
